Your 10 (ish) Most Read Authors (According to Storygraph or Whatever System You Use)
What are your ten most Most Read Authors? And how many books have you read by them? Also tag someone who you would like to do this!
Thank you @the-forest-library for tagging me
Here are my Storygraph stats:
Data goes back to 2016. I am sure that data further back would include Marion Zimmer Bradley (I still own 34 of her books and have read more) and Mercedes Lackey (28). I also read a lot of Cornelia Funke (11+), Astrid Lindgren (18), Erich Kästner (13+), and Jonathan Wylie (11 - anybody else know the books? I loved them). And T. Kingfisher will soon move to the list as I already read several books by her and have even more on my physical tbr (13 books in total so far).
Looking at the list, I have to clarify that quantity does not equal love for the author. E.g. I am slowly reading my way through the over 20 The Cat Who mysteries. They are fun, short, easy mysteries and perfect as a palate cleanser or in between when I do not know what to read next. And I did get really annoyed at The Southern Vampire Mysteries (did you know that Sam is not a tall man? I sure do and will never forget because Sookie tells us this in Every. Single. Book! At least once). And Kiiro Yumi is author of a manga with 15 installments which, while fun, just add up like that.
That aside, there are several of my favourite authors on that list: Tamora Pierce, Terry Pratchert, Marc-Uwe Kling, Maggie Stiefvater, and Ben Aaronovitch.
I tag (no pressure) @lizziethereader @books-are-portals @linebetween @clockwork118 @belle-annd-the-book @more-better-words

Ok, so I have a few suggestions! Feel to try any, or none, of them, they are only suggestions 💜
Fantasy:
-A Great And Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. This novel is the first in a trilogy following a group of girls at a boarding school in England. They explore an old magic that can transport them to different realms. It's a very interesting story about the relationships/friendships young women go through and experience, and I found I liked it a lot.
-Malice by John Gwynne. This is the first novel in The Faithful and The Fallen series; a fantasy series about a prophecy that tells of the gods choosing champions to fight for them. It's a large novel, with dozens of characters. Honestly, similar to Game of Thrones but not quite as dark (at least, from what I know of Game of Thrones). And we love to see a vague prophecy that can be interpreted different ways.
-The Centaur's Wife by Amanda Leduc. This is a stand-alone novel about a woman in the modern day, facing the dangers of a post-apocalyptic world. Woven into the story are fairy tales that unite the different characters more than you would initially think. And, of course, magic and fantasy elements are present, from centaurs to a mountain that has a mind of its own. (technically, this one is listed as both fantasy and science fiction; I just think of it more as fantasy)
-Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. The first in a trilogy, truthwitch is about two young witches who use their powers to work toward saving the continent. I found this one a fun read, and I really love the sisterly relationship between Safiya and Iseult. I haven't gotten a chance to read Bloodwitch (the third novel) yet, but I am very much looking forward to it!
Science Fiction:
-Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots. This is a really gripping story, set in a modern world where superpowers exist, heroes and villains are actual jobs, and you can, if you choose, find work under heroes or villains through agencies. Literal. Agencies. Honestly, I kind of picked it up on that fact alone. There is so much interesting worldbuilding. (yes, the villains have health care plans. HEALTH CARE PLANS.) You read from the point of view of a hench woman who was severely injured by a hero. She finds out about all the 'collateral' damage the heroes create, does research, and finds a disturbing truth. Working under one of the most renowned villains, she uses that information to fuel fights against heroes, exposing them and forcing into the light the fact that heroes are not always 'good'. In fact, it really challenges the idea of 'greater good' and who is truly affected by hero work and in what ways. It gets a little gruesome toward the end, with some super powers being used in...unconventional forms of torture...but I found it absolutely fantastic to read and I couldn't put it down.
Horror:
-Overdue by Richie Tankersley Cusick. The main character, Kathleen, works in a library. Someone returns five books about death, all overdue. Shortly after, Kathleen's friends begin to have tragic accidents...all related to different books.
-Someone at the Door by Richie Tankersley Cusick. Two girls are trapped in their home out of town while a blizzard rages on. The phone and radio aren't working. Adding to the tension, they already heard the news: a mass murderer is on the loose nearby.
-The Unseen by Richie Tankersley Cusick. This is a four-book series about a teen who moves in with her aunt and cousin after her mother passes away. While out one evening, she ends up chased and falls into an open grave. She gets away, but starts having unsettling visions and dreams. This series has demons/spirits, forbidden lust/romance, and honestly was one of my favourites when I was a teen.
(you can see some of my favouritism peeking through; I really enjoy this author, and she has many, many more books. Those are just a few of my absolute faves.)
Random Rec:
-Library Wars: Love and War by Kiiro Yumi. A 15 volume manga series (based on the light novels by Hiro Arikawa with illustrations by Sukumo Adabana) that discusses the detrimental impacts of censorship and heavy monitoring of media can have on the modern world. In this story, libraries in Japan have an actual all-out war with a committee that is hell-bent on censoring what terms and situations media can use and discuss, as well as what access to media the general public have. As you can probably guess, the libraries are on the side of preserving all media and allowing people to choose what they want to consume, and so they fight to protect books, articles, magazines, and anyone who wants the freedom of speech. Despite the seriousness of the theme, the series manages to tell the story in a more light-hearted manner as you follow Iku Kasahara, a young woman who joined the library armed forces to find her prince; a young man who saved her and her beloved book from being taken from her when she was in high school. I always recommend this series, since I really think it's fun and entertaining while also giving a commentary on a serious issue that we do face today (every day I am haunted by the fact grown-ass adults on Tiktok need to say "unalive" instead of "kill" or "dead" because otherwise they'll be kicked off the platform).
So, here's some recs from me! Let me know if you like any, have read any already, or want more!!!!! I always love talking about books. Similarly, if you have books you've read that sound similar to these listed above, I would love to hear about them! I always love book recommendations, and I seem to have a hobby of adding to my ever-growing TBR list ahahaha.
What kind of books do you like usually? I saw you were looking for some suggestions…💜
I’m into sci-fi and fantasy stuff for the most part, I do like a good horror sometimes and I love when genres are combined
